Everything you discuss in therapy with me is confidential. All phone calls, emails and enquiries are also treated with the strictest confidence. Having a safe place for you to bring whatever you need to therapy involves the reassurance that it will go no further.
As part of my ongoing professional development and to ensure I am working ethically and in my clients’ best interests, I have regular supervision. I may bring aspects of our work together to my supervisor. The supervisor is also bound by the strictest confidence and at no time will they have any information that would identify you personally.
There are certain circumstances where the law requires me to break confidentiality. If I believe you are at risk to yourself or others, I must inform an authority. I will not be able to keep complete confidentiality. This is very rare however and I will first inform you if this is to happen.
A counselling session, known as a ‘therapeutic hour’, is 50 minutes.
Usually, people attend weekly. This allows us to establish a pattern and a good working relationship. However, as therapy progresses, we may feel a change in frequency would be beneficial. We can discuss your requirements as we go along.
A session is £60 in person and £50 online.
I want to avoid cost being a barrier to counselling, so please contact me regarding concessions.
Payment is by BACS or cash before the session.
This very much depends on the person. Some people may require a short series of sessions, only a few weeks.
For others, therapy can be open ended – we will assess and discuss how it is developing as we proceed. For some it is helpful to have a defined number of sessions, for example ten, before the end of which we will review and discuss our progress.
If we both agree that further sessions are of benefit to you, we can continue.
I ask that you give me 24 hours’ notice when cancelling a session, otherwise the session fee will be charged. Emergencies will of course be taken into account and sessions rearranged wherever possible.
